Fruit trees: Imagining Future Sustainable Bathrooms with VitrA

Ideas, projects and practices that are active and already fruitful with learnings and impact.

How should private and public bathrooms transform to enable sustainable living and environmental and social impact in the future? How can companies’ sustainability projects be connected to an inspiring, holistic and strategic shared vision?

We recently partnered with Vitra - an innovative furniture design and manufacturing company - to collaboratively reimagine what VitrA’s sustainable future bathroom might look, feel, sound and perform like. Together with a diverse representation of VitrA’s team, we created a multi-level cohesive and holistic vision to guide and inspire VitrA’s future approach to sustainability innovation. New shoots: Niin Metsä Vastaa

Emerging work that’s inspiring us, or that we are beginning to nurture

Niin metsä vastaa refers to a Finnish proverb “Niin metsä vastaa kun sinne huudetaan” that translates to “The forest answers in the same way one shouts into it”.

This project explores our collective imagination of Finnish forest-relationships. During spring we developed a new workshop format for co-creating intentional language to inspect and shape our relationships with nature. Niin Metsä Vastaa seeks to co-develop a creative dictionary of new language defining the need of future forest relationships, and introduce the work to Finnish society.

This month we are also hosting two FREE workshops to test this new approach, one online and one in person in Puistokatu 4, Helsinki. Find out more and register your places below.

📣 Call for funding and collaborations

We welcome funding or consortium partners to support the next phase of applying the method into practice, developing the dictionary, and disseminating it to use in society and different industries.

We are also keen to explore this workshop format in other ecological contexts - perhaps The Ocean Answers, or The Meadow Answers, or The Desert Answers. If you would be keen to explore this process with us, we would love to hear from you.
