Fruit trees: The Futures We Create summer workshops start

Ideas, projects and practices that are active and already fruitful with learnings and impact.

This week, Andrea, Savannah and Sara kicked off a summer workshop series for the The Futures We Create project. The workshops explore techniques, tools and approaches for encouraging the imagination of hopeful, possible futures.

The first workshop was held as a part of Elokapina’s (the Finnish branch of Extinction Rebellion) “Storm Warning” actions this June. Together the group connected with the feeling of longing, time traveled to a hopeful future, and told stories of the future together.

New shoots: Hospicing systems at SRI/SSD

Emerging work that’s inspiring us, or that we are beginning to nurture

Reaching beyond green transition, sustainability transformation requires fundamental changes in the society especially in high-income countries. In saying goodbye to old systems and practices that once served us, how can we create new rituals that honour and critique them simultaneously?

At the Sustainability Research + Innovation / Sustainability Science Days conference we ran a workshop exploring the themes of hospicing dying systems through ritual design. Read more in our blog below:

We have two upcoming trainings in July and August to introduce you to Transition Design and some of its key tools and applications.

August Complexity Workshop with Ekata Theatre
Led by Saaramaria Kuittinen and Erika Eva. In this playful workshop we look at how we can learn to hold complexities better using embodied practices.

We also get a felt sense experience of how living systems work and change without controlling. In the times where we are, we need to cultivate this new skill of being with complexities without running towards narrow and insufficient solutions. But this may be difficult. The workshop offers also ways to better deal with uncertainties and to breathe amidst chaos.

You're warmly invited to join us online for an exhilarating workshop! Together, we'll embark on a journey to reimagine our bond with forests. Using collective imagination, we'll dive into our stories, memories, and connections with these majestic and complex landscapes.

This workshop is the first stage of a co-creative project, funded by the Collective Imagination Practice Community, which looks to uncover and create new narratives and language to foster a deeper understanding of these invaluable ecosystems. The project hopes to spark tangible changes in our behaviours and attitudes towards nature.
