Fruit trees: Imagining good life within the planetary boundaries with Sitra

Ideas, projects and practices that are active and already fruitful with learnings and impact.

Close your eyes. Take a deep breath - the deepest one you’ve taken all day. Imagine you are walking around the streets, parks and buildings of Helsinki in the year 2045. Life is good, life is sustainable and just. We have curbed climate change, and begun to repair our natural ecosystems.

How do you feel? What do you see? What can you smell, and touch, and taste?

We are thrilled to share that in December we begin a project with Sitra!

In the project we will find and create positive images of what sustainable and good life might look like in the future, and develop tools for the people of Finland to imagine a happy life for themselves within the planetary boundaries.

We hope the project will provide some hope and faith that we can build a better future together.

New shoots: Catalysing change from the inside out at COP28

Emerging work that’s inspiring us, or that we are beginning to nurture

COP28 is fast approaching, and our founder Zeynep will be joining in Dubai representing both our collective and as a creative leader at Neol.

With much of the COP tradition failing to recognise the deep mindset and paradigmatic shifts that are needed to address the polycrisis, we’re looking at the role of inner development in sustainability work. With Neol teammates, Zeynep will be hosting a workshop on “Inner Development: Catalyzing Change From the Inside Out”. If you’re heading to COP this year, find out more about the event below!

Exploring Legal Design

We’ve recently been exploring the space of Legal Design and sustainability - inspired by amazing work (and conversations with) by Creative Contracts among others about the way that design and creative approaches can contribute to justice systems, environments and communications.

We’re looking for opportunities to be a design partner within law to use creative approaches and problem solving for social and environmental justice work.

Sunshine: A dose of energy, uplift and hope

This month, we’re looking in the mirror for our dose of sunshine! For the first time we managed to get all of our core collective members in one place for a celebratory dinner.

As a collective who meet mostly online, we cherish these moments to meet and connect in person over delicious food and inspiring conversation. So consider this a gentle reminder of the power of human connection!
